SRM Electronics Pvt Ltd
Shubramaniyan N, vice president

It has been estimated that all the world’s natural resources will have been completely depleted within 150 years and as such, companies need to continuously search for viable sources of alternative/renewable energy. It is also imperative that companies save as much energy as possible, now.

Conserving energy is now a mandate, not a choice, and part of that mandate is the need to go green. When it comes to lighting, one can easily imagine the impact of improving the efficiency of lighting sources by 10 per cent. But what if it could be improved by 90 per cent? Newly enhanced Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) have the potential to achieve such improved efficiencies while maintaining high performance and reliability that supersede many currently used sources.

Originally, LEDs were used as indicators in electronics and for decorative purposes. LEDs has been around for many years, but with the latest developments in its technology over the last 5 years, manufacturers are now expanding their product lines and LEDs are being used for industrial, corporate, home, architectural and advertising lighting—to such an extent that it is now termed the ‘Light of the Future’. There are also concerns about environmental issues that could arise from the continued usage of mercury and sodium-based lighting.

SRM Electronics Pvt Ltd is a member of the renowned SRM Group, based in Chennai, India.
The SRM group is a multi-million dollar business house, with a business reputation that is four decades old. It has teams of professionals with multi-lingual capabilities and the group is currently operational in 15 cities worldwide. SRM has long-standing and vibrant partnerships with over 100 companies across the globe. The SRM group employs over 5000 people across its business ventures spanning educational institutions, ‘green’ technology,  IT and the hospitality industries.

The SRM group has established strong alliances to facilitate joint research and collaborative programmes and it has constituted an international advisory board with members from international universities and trans-national conglomerates SRM has been setting trends in going green and one of the main areas of focus has been migrating from conventional to LED lighting in all its facilities, offices and properties. SRM can proudly state that the company has converted more than 50 per cent of its existing installations from traditional to LED lighting and will be installing only LED lights in all the group’s new locations.

So, having benefited in terms of energy and cost savings and having done its part in helping to save the environment, SRME took the path of investing its resources in LED technology—R&D, D&D (design and development) and manufacturing. For the past 18 months it has expanded to cater to external requirements. SRM have spent time, HR and money to develop more than 40 products catering to the outdoor, indoor, industrial, corporate, sports, advertising and home lighting. Its mission is to make these high quality products at prices affordable to the common man thus setting off a national trend in energy saving.
