The Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) has identified five districts in three states as Brownfield Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMC) for the purpose of Modified Special Incentive Package Scheme (MSIPS) in the Electronics Systems Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector. We are the first to bring this news to you and it is expected that DeitY will announce this notification any time today.
These five manufacturing areas have been selected in three states -Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. These areas are the districts of Bengaluru, Bengaluru rural and Tumkur, Mysore in Karnataka, districts of Dewas, Indore Dhar and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, and Noida in Uttar Pradesh.
All units within these areas that are located within industrial estates or any area approved by a state/Central/ local government or municipal authorities for use of industrial purpose will be eligible for MSIP benefits. It seems to be a step by step process, as five areas have been named in the first list. In addition, DeitY may issue supplementary list of Brownfield EMCs or amend the existing list of Brownfield clusters as required in the best interest of MSIPS and EMC schemes.
Also, these notified Brownfield clusters may be changed as per the application(s) received for different areas across India from time to time, till the validity of the MSIPS scheme.
