REFUsol claims that the inverters comply with all requirements for IP65 protection and their housing provides reliable protection from dust and water, including high pressure washing.
The market of solar inverters is surely gaining traction in India. In a bid to encash on the increasing popularity of solar inverters in the country, REFUsol has started producing high-efficiency solar inverters in Pune. The company has plans to manufacture its 10kW, 13kW ,17kW, 20kW and 23kW string inverters for the Indian, South Asian and Middle East market in Pune facility.
The first inverters were produced in February 2013. According to a press statement issued by the company, the three-phase string inverters REFUsol 010K, 013K, 017K and 020K are suitable for rooftop systems from 10 kW upwards, right through to megawatt parks. REFUsol claims that the inverters comply with all requirements for IP65 protection and their housing provides reliable protection from dust and water, including high pressure washing. It means that these systems can be installed out in the open without any problem.
The company touts that all four string inverters are easy to handle and compact. They can be installed on an area smaller than three A4 pages laid side by side. Operation and monitoring of these inverters is also no difficult. The operation is further facilitated by the graphic display, the integrated RS485 interface and an Ethernet connection. Fast MPP tracking and a wide input voltage range also ensure the high levels of efficiency that are typical in REFUsol systems.
The three-phase inverters are able to achieve an efficiency of up to 98.2 per cent even at low irradiation. As a result of these high efficiency levels, convection cooling is all that is needed to dissipate the heat. These inverters are transformer-less devices, which can also be used for many thin-film modules. The integrated data-logger can send all important operating data to the REFUlog internet portal. For visualisation and evaluation purposes, data can be transferred via the standard cable or an optional wireless connection using the new REFUconnect radio module.
The REFUsol 023K-460 VAC appears to be a compelling solution for medium-voltage applications on large-scale PV sites as it offers an output voltage of 460 volts and an input voltage range of 575 to 850 volts. The high efficiency of the inverter enables noise-free convection cooling and ensures the inner workings of the inverter are maintenance-free.
Commenting on the product, Thomas Wittek, chief executive officer, Refu Solar Electronics Pvt. Ltd, said, “EPCs and investors appreciate the concept of our high efficiency inverters which is not only giving them capital cost benefits but also help them to reduce the operational cost of plant and getting 2 to 3 per cent more generation benefits. With our local production here in Pune we are now able to meet our customer’s needs even better and in shorter time.” The inauguration of the Pune facility happened on 19 March.
