Bosch, one of country’s renowned manufacturers has decided to enter the solar water heater market in India. Taking a close look at the evolving solar energy segment in the country, Bosch eyes this segment and hopes that it will obtain the necessary encouragement and support from the ministry.
The Bengaluru-based company will compete with existing solar manufacturers and offer its solar-based water heaters. The segment is estimated to be pegged at Rs 2 billion. The company hopes to capture 10 to 15 per cent of the market in the next 2 to 3 years, Vidyasagar Halingali, country head, Thermo technology, Bosch India has reportedly said.
Initially, Bosch will roll out products like solar panels and the solar heaters, which will be marketed in Karnataka in south India, Maharashtra in west India and NCR region in north India. The company will provide the technology and critical components, while installments would be done at the dealers end.
“The heaters manufactured by us will have a lot of customisation to help the end customer. We are looking forward to mass projects.” Halingali also added that Bosch will also have its own distribution system for the systems.
