Delhi/NCR region is heavily plagued by power crisis. Industry-heavy regions like Noida and Gurgaon have been known for long outages. All this has clearly stated the apparent need for use of solar energy to power these respective cities. The Noida Board has approved a 1 MW solar power generation plant in the national capital region on the UP irrigation possession land along Yamuna bank and Noida drain, according to TOI report.
“Initially, we will set up 1 MW plant and later more plants will be set up in the city,” Sanjiv Saran, CEO Noida Board has reportedly said.

At least 100 telecom towers in Uttar Pradesh are also equipped with solar energy panels. In Noida, many traffic signals are run on solar energy, Saran added.
