Manufacturers’ Association for Information Technology (MAIT), with the support of regional industry associations, is organising a series of seminars and expos on ‘Technology Opportunities for Emerging Enterprises’ across the country, in cities like Chennai, Cochin, Bhopal, Pune, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Tirupur, Hyderabad, Ludhiana and Dehradun.
K S Nandakumar, regional director and acting head of MAIT, commenting on the SME scenario in India, said that SMEs play a vital role in the growth of the Indian economy by contributing 45 per cent of the industrial output, 40 per cent of exports, employment to 42 million people, creating one million new jobs every year and producing more than 8000 quality products for the Indian and international markets. As a result, SMEs are today exposed to greater opportunities for expansion and diversification, across the sectors.
