Tamil Nadu is set to have a 500 acre solar farm in Ramanathapuram district. The farm will facilitate generation of 100 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) power capacity.
According to an official release, Raasi Green Earth Energy Pvt Ltd will set the Rs 9.2 billion project in Paramakudi area and an agreement has been signed between the company and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) in this regard.
The agreement falls in line with the state government’s solar policy to generate 3,000 MW of solar power by 2015. TIDCO is looking to work with the private sector to set up 1,000 MW of solar farms over the course of next five years. This project in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode will provide adequate infrastructure facilities including water, power evacuation facilities and developed space for solar power projects and the objective is to facilitate investments in solar power generation.
The targeted time-frame of project’s completion is 12 months and Raasi Green Earth will initially set up a 10 MW solar farm as well as tied up with investors for the balance 90 MW.
