The latest development in the educational structure is not for the students but for the teachers. A solar-run biometric attendance systems will now be installed in the government schools of Uttar Pradesh. The step has been taken by the government to keep a check on the teachers.
According to the Business line report, teachers’ attendance will be recorded using the solar biometric system and a centre control room will be set up in the in Lucknow. This method was first tried at Mati Higher Secondary School in Sarojini Nagar in Lucknow. The idea to impose this new system is not just to register attendance but also keep a check on the mid-day meal scheme.
Earlier this week, the issue of implementing biometric attendance was discussed in Delhi University where the executive council has now given authority to the vice-chancellor to implement the system for the university teachers.
The biometric educational system already existed in the Delhi University for the non teaching staff but now it been mandatory for the teachers as well, reports TOI. The idea for applying this system for the teachers was proposed in 2009. But the teachers opposed to it and it was put aside. The teachers from Academics for Action and Development department have requested to the VC not to go ahead with the new system.
