ASMPT Limited, Kaynes Semicon Private Limited and Perceptives Solutions today signed two Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing semiconductor expertise through targeted training and knowledge sharing to strengthen India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

As the global semiconductor market continues to grow, India is poised to enhance its presence in ATMP/OSAT over traditional chip manufacturing, leading to a rising demand for skilled professionals in the local semiconductor workforce. Kaynes Semicon, a subsidiary of Kaynes Technology India Limited specializing in backend semiconductor manufacturing, has established a strategic partnership with ASMPT, a leading global supplier of hardware and software solutions. Through this collaboration, ASMPT will provide best practices and advanced knowledge with engineers at Kaynes Semicon, enhancing local expertise, improving operational efficiency, and strengthening the semiconductor supply chain ecosystem in India.

A recent report projects India’s semiconductor industry will generate 1 million jobs across various sectors by 2026, with employers actively seeking candidates with expertise in electrical and electronics engineering and materials science. In response, Perceptives Solutions, in collaboration with ASMPT and Kaynes Semicon, has signed a separate MoU to accelerate the development of a skilled talent pool through tailored training initiatives for universities and academic institutions. This partnership aims to cultivate a new generation of professionals skilled in critical semiconductor processes, including OSAT, photolithography, VLSI packaging, design, and testing, to meet the needs of India’s rapidly expanding semiconductor industry and to thrive in the competitive semiconductor landscape.

Mr. Raghu Panicker, CEO of Kaynes Semicon, expressed his commitment, stating, “We are committed to establishing India as a semiconductor powerhouse and enhancing the manufacturing value chain for global customers. Through our collaboration with ASMPT in developing comprehensive training programs, we aim to leverage industry expertise and cultivate a dynamic ecosystem within the country.

Mr. Joe Poh Tson Cheong, Co-CEO of ASMPT Semiconductor Solutions Segment added, “We are excited to partner with Kaynes Semicon in realizing their vision of positioning India at the forefront of semiconductor innovation. With a wealth of talented engineers in the country, we are dedicated in leveraging our expertise and resources to support sustainable growth in India. We firmly believe that such partnerships are crucial for driving innovation and nurturing the talent necessary for future advancements in the semiconductor industry.”

Ms. K. Bhanupriya, Managing Director of Perceptives Solutions, also stated the collaboration will not only enhance the skill set of local workforce but significantly contribute to the advancement of India’s semiconductor industry. “Providing industrial training in semiconductor manufacturing is essential for fostering a new wave of future engineers,” she emphasised.

Earlier in September, Kaynes Semicon secured government approval to establish a Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) Facility in Sanand, Gujarat. This facility will have the capacity to manufacture and ship products across various sectors, including industrial, automotive, electric vehicles (EVs), consumer electronics, telecom, and mobile phones.

ASMPT’s dedication to advancing semiconductor technology is underscored by its extensive portfolio of innovative solutions. As a global technology leader, ASMPT is well-positioned to drive significant advancements in the semiconductor industry by offering cutting-edge solutions for semiconductor manufacturing. This empowers companies like Kaynes Semicon to enhance their operational capabilities and collectively propel the semiconductor industry forward.
