iMerit has opened its 12th global facility in Coimbatore to enhance AI-driven solutions in autonomous mobility and automotive technologies. This new centre is dedicated to expanding the workforce, fostering innovation, and developing skills in the burgeoning AI sector.
iMerit, a prominent company in the field of AI data solutions, recently launched its Automotive AI Center of Excellence in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. This new centre is a significant milestone in iMerit’s ongoing expansion strategy and represents its twelfth global location. The establishment of this centre is timely, aligning with the increasing importance of artificial intelligence within the automotive industry, which is expected to burgeon into a $7.5 billion market by 2028, according to a report by Nasscom.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Dr Palanivel Thiagarajan, the Minister of Information Technology and Digital Services of Tamil Nadu. The event was attended by a host of dignitaries, including iMerit employees, guests, and senior executives. To date, iMerit has recruited over 220 employees for its Coimbatore operations and aims to double this number by the year 2025. The company is dedicated to developing AI data solutions for various sectors, including autonomous mobility, healthcare, and technology, all facilitated through its proprietary software, Ango Hub.
During the inauguration, Dr Thiagarajan underscored the transformative potential of this new centre. He emphasized its role in fostering industry innovation and promoting both inclusive growth and skill development within the region. Remarkably, the workforce at the centre comprises 52% women, many of whom are primary breadwinners in their families, thus underscoring iMerit’s commitment to social equity and empowerment.
Radha Ramaswami Basu, the CEO and founder of iMerit, expressed that the Coimbatore facility is poised to strengthen the company’s largest revenue-generating vertical—automotive AI—which currently accounts for 60% of iMerit’s total revenue. She detailed that the centre will concentrate on pioneering advanced AI solutions, particularly for autonomous mobility applications such as trucking, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and drone technologies.
Anupam Biswas, Chief Delivery Officer at iMerit, highlighted the centre’s rapid growth and development. He noted that the centre has successfully hired and trained over 220 multisensor fusion experts who are now actively engaged in pivotal customer projects utilizing the Ango Hub software.
The global AI data management market, estimated to be worth $25.53 billion in 2023, is anticipated to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 22.7% through 2030. iMerit plans to capitalize on this growth by enhancing its capabilities in AI data management, with a special focus on the automotive sector.
Coimbatore’s reputation as one of India’s most livable cities and its safe environment for women provide additional advantages for attracting and retaining skilled professionals. With iMerit’s commitment to ethical AI practices and its dedication to providing high-quality data solutions, the company is well-positioned to support the Indian automotive industry as it navigates the evolving landscape of AI-driven innovations.
