The unveiling of the electric version of the Hyundai Creta at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show in New Delhi is expected to boost the model’s already strong sales. The Creta, which ranked as the second best-selling SUV from April to November 2024, could see an even greater increase in popularity following this launch.
Hyundai Motor India is gearing up to unveil its Creta EV at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Show 2025 in New Delhi, introducing the electric version of India’s top-selling midsize SUV. The exterior of the Creta EV will resemble the recently facelifted Creta but will include unique EV modifications such as a sealed grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and aerodynamic alloy wheels. This new model will compete with other electric vehicles like the Mahindra BE 6e, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the soon-to-be-launched Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.
Hyundai has maintained a conservative approach in the design of the Creta EV, incorporating most features from the standard Creta model while adding specific EV elements such as a redesigned grille and distinctive alloy wheels. Inside, the Creta EV will sport a three-spoke steering wheel from the latest Hyundai Kona EV, a drive selector near the steering column, and a redesigned centre console.
The electric SUV will be equipped with a 45kWh battery, comparable to several competitors, and will feature a motor that delivers 138 horsepower and 255Nm of torque. Hyundai Motor India plans an annual production of about 24,000 units and anticipates competitive pricing to bolster sales.
The introduction of the Creta EV is expected to boost Hyundai’s electric vehicle sales, which have seen significant fluctuations over the past year. With only the Ioniq 5 currently in its EV lineup following the discontinuation of the Kona, Hyundai has experienced a notable decrease in sales. However, the launch of the Creta EV is set to invigorate the brand’s performance in the EV market and potentially enhance the overall sales figures for the Creta model, positioning it as a strong contender in the competitive SUV market in India.
