Suzuki electrifies the future with the launch of its first BEV, the e VITARA, set to debut globally in 2025.
Suzuki Motor Corporation officially introduced its inaugural mass-production battery electric vehicle (BEV), named the e VITARA, at an event in Milan, Italy. Slated for production at Suzuki Motor Gujarat in India starting in spring 2025, the vehicle is expected to hit markets in Europe, India, and Japan by the summer of the same year.
Derived from the concept model “eVX” presented at the Auto Expo in India in January 2023 and later at the JAPAN MOBILITY SHOW in October, the e VITARA stands as Suzuki’s premier global strategic BEV model. Designed under the theme “Emotional Versatile Cruiser,” the e VITARA melds cutting-edge technology with robustness, featuring the electric 4WD system “ALLGRIP-e” and a custom-developed platform “HEARTECT-e” for BEVs.
The e VITARA boasts a design theme of “High-Tech & Adventure,” combining the sleek, modern aesthetics of a BEV with the rugged, durable qualities of an SUV. It comes equipped with a BEV powertrain that includes an efficient eAxle and a lithium-iron-phosphate battery, ensuring quick and responsive acceleration. The vehicle’s “ALLGRIP-e” system provides exceptional performance and control, enhanced by a Trail mode for overcoming challenging terrain.
President Suzuki commented on the launch, highlighting the e VITARA as a critical step towards achieving carbon neutrality. He emphasized Suzuki’s commitment to offering diverse vehicle options, including BEVs, hybrids, and CNG vehicles, tailored to the specific needs of various regions. With the introduction of the e VITARA, Suzuki aims to expand its BEV lineup and continue proposing mobility solutions that cater to the unique demands of different countries and regions.
