Unveiling BEL IAI AeroSystems, Bharat Electronics and Israel Aerospace are looking to bolster life cycle support for MRSAM air defence systems through their joint venture.
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), the PSU under the Ministry of Defence and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), have recently announced the creation of a joint venture called BEL IAI AeroSystems Private Limited.
Located in Delhi, this joint venture will serve as the single point of contact (SPOC) for providing long-term product support for the medium-range surface-to-air missile (MRSAM) systems used by India’s security forces.
According to an official statement, the partnership represents an advancement in strengthening the relationship between the two companies that have collaborated before. Currently, BEL and IAI are working together on several joint programs for the Tri-services.
However, no financial information regarding the project has been disclosed.
BEL announced that the joint venture company (JVC) has been established to provide comprehensive life cycle support, including technical and maintenance services, for the country’s MRSAM air defence systems.
According to the company, MRSAM is an innovative air and missile defence system designed to protect against various aerial threats.
Developed collaboratively by IAI and DRDO for India’s armed forces, the system is currently used by the Indian Air Force, Indian Army, Indian Navy, and the Israeli defence forces. It features an advanced phased array radar, a command and control shelter, mobile launchers, and interceptors equipped with an advanced RF seeker.
Moreover, the company stated that creating the JVC, which will utilise the strengths of both IAI and BEL, aligns with the Indian Government’s self-dependency vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat. ‘
