Musashi Seimitsu Industry and Log9 Materials have joined forces to develop an integrated powertrain system specifically for electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers. This partnership is focused on increasing energy efficiency, extending the range of vehicles, and enhancing service dependability. The project, which is directed at both the Indian and international markets, prioritizes sustainable transportation solutions and aims to lower carbon emissions.
Musashi Seimitsu Industry, based in Japan and the parent company of Musashi India, has formed a strategic alliance with Log9 Materials to transform the electric vehicle (EV) sector with a new integrated powertrain solution. This joint effort combines Musashi’s e-Axle system with Log9’s battery technology to tackle prominent challenges in EV energy management, scalability, and service reliability, focusing on electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers for both Indian and international markets. The collaboration aims to integrate advanced battery packs with high-performance e-Axle systems to minimise energy losses common in traditional powertrains, enhancing vehicle range and performance, especially in densely populated urban settings. By synchronizing battery and drivetrain technologies, the partnership strives to establish new standards of efficiency and innovation in the EV industry.
Regarding the future vision for EVs, Pankaj Sharma, Co-Founder of Log9 Materials, shared his enthusiasm about the partnership. He highlighted that collaborating with Musashi moves them toward their shared goal of developing advanced engineering solutions for electric vehicles. By combining Musashi’s expertise in manufacturing and energy-efficient motion conversion with Log9’s cutting-edge battery technology, they aim to provide the most efficient powertrain solutions on the market. Their joint effort to use innovative technology to decarbonize the world underscores their common business values and ambitions for the future.
Hiroshi Otsuka, President and Group CEO of Musashi, also remarked on the collaboration, noting that teaming up with Log9 represents a major step in their mission to transform electric mobility. He emphasised their commitment to creating a comprehensive, high-performance system specifically designed for electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers. Their goal is to address significant market gaps and introduce an integrated system that enhances energy efficiency, improves the interaction between battery and drivetrain systems, and sets new benchmarks for sustainability and innovation in the industry.
A central element of this partnership is the implementation of a centralized service model for the integrated battery and e-Axle systems, designed to decrease repair downtime and enhance customer satisfaction with faster service responses. This strategy makes electric mobility more efficient and accessible, particularly in regions like India and Southeast Asia, where two-wheelers and three-wheelers play a vital role in transportation and last-mile deliveries.
Looking beyond India, the partnership plans to expand into global markets, including Southeast Asia and Africa, supported by a robust after-sales service network in major Indian cities. Musashi’s venture into the EV sector reflects the company’s strategic objectives to foster innovation and contribute to global carbon emission reduction efforts. By setting new benchmarks in powertrain development, Musashi and Log9 are well-positioned to accelerate EV adoption and drive the shift toward sustainable transportation.
