Set to open in 2026, the Silicon Desert in Arizona sees a new $17.5 million semiconductor cleaning and coating facility by KoMiCo.
Texas-based KoMiCo Phoenix LLC, which provides semiconductor cleaning and coating services, has acquired an approximately 11,613-square-metre manufacturing facility in Mesa, Arizona, for $17.5 million.
The facility, set on 12.5 acres, will provide services for cleaning, coating, and repairing semiconductor equipment parts. It is scheduled to open in 2026 and is expected to generate 200 jobs. With an investment exceeding $50 million, this site will become KoMiCo’s third U.S. location and eighth worldwide.
The Arizona Commerce Authority stated to The Centre Square that KoMiCo may be eligible for the Quality Jobs Tax Credit, which could amount to $351,000. This credit offers $3,000 annually for up to three years, totalling $9,000, for each new job created by the company.
Shawn Jang, CEO of KoMiCo U.S., expressed pride in partnering with the City of Mesa and disclosed plans to further establish the Silicon Desert as a leading region for advanced semiconductor manufacturing in the U.S.
Local leaders have stated that this development enhances the Phoenix area’s reputation for technological advancement in the semiconductor industry.
Chris Camacho, President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, noted that KoMiCo’s advanced chip technology enhances Greater Phoenix’s semiconductor leadership and is expected to boost growth for local supply chain companies.
Meanwhile, Intel and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company have received significant funding through the US CHIPS and Science Act to develop critical semiconductor technology outside Asia. Both companies have chosen Arizona for their facilities.
