To handle business development in the electronics manufacturing sector, Kanna Krishnan has joined as the Chief Operating Officer of SMILE Electronics.
On Tuesday, ZETWERK, a contract manufacturing firm, announced that Kannan Krishnan has joined as the new Chief Operating Officer of Bengaluru-based SMILE Electronics.
In his new role, Krishnan would oversee operational efficiency and business success, focusing on process improvement, performance management, cost reduction, and team development.
His role would also revolve around the recent partnership of three new IT manufacturing facilities signed with ZETWERK.
With over 32 years in the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) industry, Kannan has held important positions as a management executive at MIRC Electronics, Nokia, Microsoft, and Optimus Electronics.
Notably, he led Nokia’s rapid factory ramp-up in Vietnam, producing 10 million mobile phones in under six months, and directed the ‘Make-in-India’ campaign. He also managed smartphone production at Optimus Electronics and recently handled LED TV and monitor assembly for BFIH (Foxconn India).
Earlier this month, ZETWERK announced a partnership with SMILE Electronics to establish three new IT hardware manufacturing facilities in India: one near Bengaluru and additional sites planned for Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Both companies saw this venture as a massive step towards expanding their business in electronics manufacturing across the country.
The new plants will feature fully automated production lines for assembling desktops, laptops, energy meters, and remote controls, with an estimated annual production capacity of 1.8 million units.
