The project is designed to produce 370 million units of energy annually, which is equivalent to powering 60,000 households.
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) reached a significant milestone with the declaration of commercial operation for its first solar project in Chhattargarh, Rajasthan, which has a capacity of 70 MW. This accomplishment adds to the NTPC Group’s growing installed capacity, which now totals 73,958 MW.
The declaration ceremony was marked by Mr. Mohit Bhargava, CEO of NTPC REL, along with other officials. The Chhattargarh Solar project, which is expected to have a full capacity of 150 MW, is anticipated to be fully commissioned by March 2024. Secured under SECI-Tranche: III, this project is a testament to Rajasthan’s renewable energy initiatives.
The project is designed to produce 370 million units of energy annually, which is equivalent to powering 60,000 households. It also promises significant environmental benefits, with an estimated reduction of CO2 emissions by 3 lakh tons per year and water conservation of 1000 MMTPA, sufficient for over 5000 households annually.
Currently, NTPC-REL is actively working on 17 projects, collectively exceeding a total capacity of 6,000 MW. This expansion demonstrates the NTPC Group’s dedication to renewable energy, with the operational renewable capacity now reaching 3,448 MW.
