The companies will integrate Nokia’s Digital Automation Cloud (NDAC) with Dell’s NativeEdge software platform.
Nokia and Dell Technologies have announced a partnership for the deployment of private 5G networks and adapting networks to the cloud. Private 5G networks are typically owned, operated, or leased by individual organisations.
As part of this collaboration, customers of Nokia AirFrame, the telecom equipment maker’s cloud-focused data centre business, will eventually transition to Dell’s PowerEdge servers, which are specifically designed for modern telecom network workloads.
Nokia’s Digital Automation Cloud (NDAC) will become Dell’s preferred private wireless platform for certain enterprise customers’ requirements. The companies plan to build on their existing partnership and work towards integrating NDAC with Dell’s NativeEdge software platform. The goal is to advance open network architectures in the telecom ecosystem and private 5G use cases among businesses.
Open network architecture is a computing and communications approach that ensures compatibility between products, such as software programs and mobile phones, even if they are made by different vendors.
The companies also intend to continue their joint research and development efforts, including platform and application testing in the Dell Open Telecom Ecosystem Lab.
Nishant Batra, Nokia’s chief strategy and technology officer, said, “Our continued collaboration with Dell will help address the future needs of our customers brought on by the increasing demands on networks and provide solutions to help communications service providers scale modern networks to the cloud.”
