This strategic partnership marks a new era in fast, efficient, and eco-friendly charging solutions, aligning with the growing demand for advanced mobile device charging.
Infineon Technologies has announced an advancement in charging technology through its collaboration with Anker Innovations. The companies have jointly launched the Innovation Application Center in Shenzhen, China, marking a substantial step towards more efficient and environmentally friendly charging solutions. The center is already operational and aims to address the rising consumer demand for rapid charging technologies driven by the increasing use of mobile devices and other battery-powered electronics. The collaboration between dates back to 2021 and has now culminated in establishing this joint research and development hub. The center focuses on creating power-delivery (PD) fast charging solutions that are more compact and powerful, primarily using Infineon’s cutting-edge Hybrid Flyback (HFB) controller product family and the CoolGaNTM IPS for chargers exceeding 100W.
This Innovation Application Center is expected to enhance the partnership further, reducing the application cycle and accelerating the introduction of new products. Additionally, the joint lab is not limited to charging technologies. It also aims to explore a broader spectrum of consumer applications, leveraging Infineon’s expertise in wide-bandgap materials like gallium nitride (GaN). The acquisition of GaN Systems in 2023 has significantly boosted the company’s GaN roadmap, reinforcing its leadership in power systems and semiconductor technologies. This joint venture represents a strategic move in the tech industry, combining expertise from two leading companies to innovate in fast-charging technology and contribute to global decarbonisation efforts.
