OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman aims to set up a network of semiconductor manufacturing plants with the heavy funds raised from global investors for a chip venture. Altman is in discussions with middle eastern investors and chip fabricators including TSMC about launching the venture.
Altman held discussions with Abu Dhabi-based G42 and SoftBank Group Corp., last month. The project is expected to involve top chip manufacturers. The talks with G42 alone had focused on raising $8 billion to $10 billion, Bloomberg reported earlier.
