Nordex Group has recently earned a contract to provide turbines for four wind farms in Sweden.
The orders have been received from Renewable Power Capital, an investment company dedicated to European renewable energy ventures.
The project will be delivered and installed in the spring of 2025. The company will install 80 turbines across the “High Coast” wind farm cluster. This collection of wind farms—Knäsjöberget, Sörlidberget, Vitberget, and Storhöjden—will be erected in the province of Västerorrlands Län.
The turbine array comprises 74 N163/6.X and six N149/5.X turbines, all of the Delta4000 series. These turbines will be installed on tubular steel towers with varying hub heights, customised to adhere to specific height restrictions. To adapt to cold climates, all 74 N163/6.X turbines will be equipped with the Nordex Advanced Icing System, a technology designed to prevent ice buildup on rotor blades, ensuring continuous energy production even in icy weather conditions.
Kevin Devlin, CEO of Renewable Power Capital highlighted the Nordex team’s commitment to environmental targets and circularity as key factors in the decision-making process. The contract marks a significant stride for Renewable Power Capital in driving the European energy transition.
Patxi Landa, CSO of the Nordex Group, emphasised the company’s pride in contributing turbines to this pivotal wind cluster and showcasing the effectiveness of their anti-icing technology in demanding climatic conditions. Landa anticipates the “High Coast” project will solidify Nordex’s position as a premier wind turbine provider in Scandinavia and expand their expertise in large-scale projects in Sweden.
As operation will commence in 2025, Nordex has planned to collaborate with local authorities and municipalities to ensure adherence to local regulations and seamless project implementation.
This agreement represents a major achievement for Nordex and Renewable Power Capital as they work together to strengthen sustainable energy projects in Sweden and throughout Europe.
