The latest Chetak Urbane retains the same 2.9kWh battery capacity as its existing model.
Bajaj has introduced a new variant of its electric scooter, the Chetak Urbane, priced at Rs 1.15 lakh for the base model and Rs 1.21 lakh with an added “Tecpac,” enhancing features and performance.
Regarding range, the Bajaj website shows the Urbane with a slightly better range (113km) compared to the existing Chetak (108km). However, this figure for the Urbane is the IDC-certified range, whereas the current Chetak Premium’s 108km is its real-world range, with an IDC rating of 126km. This suggests that the Urbane’s real-world range might be somewhat less, though exact details are yet to be confirmed. The website does verify that the new Chetak Urbane maintains the same 2.9kWh battery capacity as the existing model.
The Urbane features the same colour LCD display as the Premium version. In its standard configuration, the Urbane achieves a top speed of 63kph and offers only an Eco riding mode. With the “Tecpac” addition, the top speed increases to 73kph, and a Sport riding mode is included.
However, the new Urbane falls short in some respects compared to the current Chetak Premium. The standard charger’s rate has been reduced from 800W to 650W, leading to longer charging times, now taking 4 hours and 50 minutes compared to 3 hours and 50 minutes. Additionally, the Urbane comes exclusively with drum brakes on both wheels.
These differences suggest that Bajaj may soon update the Chetak Premium to match or exceed the Urbane in these areas. More updates are expected to follow.
