The facility significantly enhances water and energy efficiency, fulfilling over 80% of the energy needs for an EV AC charging unit. Kia India has ambitions to inaugurate an additional 150 Green Workshops by 2026. This expansion will encompass metro areas and Tier 1 and 2 markets and also reach Tier 3 and 4 regions.

Kia India has launched its solar-powered Green Workshop in Rohtak, Haryana. This facility prioritizes water and energy conservation, fulfilling over 80% of its energy needs and incorporating an EV AC charging station. The company intends to establish 150 more such Green Workshops by 2026, spanning metro cities, Tier 1, 2, 3, and 4 markets.

In this workshop, Kia is mirroring the water recycling approach from its plant by reusing 100% of water during servicing. It will also feature a rainwater harvesting system to boost groundwater levels. The workshop introduces Steam Wash technology for car cleaning, which conserves 95% more water than traditional methods, as per the company’s media statement.

Myung-sik Sohn, the Chief Sales and Business Strategy Officer at Kia India, stated that opening their first Green Workshop in Rohtak is a pivotal move in positioning Kia India as a leader in sustainable transportation. He affirmed their commitment to establishing 150 Green Workshops by 2026. Through these initiatives, Kia India aims to reduce their environmental footprint and set a benchmark in the industry, showcasing how ecological responsibility can seamlessly integrate with top-tier driving experiences. They envision a future where outstanding driving experiences and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.

Since its operations in India, Kia has proactively implemented green measures. Kia’s Anantapur manufacturing facility is designed to reuse 100% of the water from its manufacturing activities. In 2020, Kia introduced a paperless aftersales service, providing digital tools to the aftersales team. Earlier this year, KIN launched two community projects: Develop Responsible Outlook for Plastic (DROP) and Uphaar. While DROP targets the pressing issue of plastic waste prevention in landfills and water systems, Uphaar is a tree-planting campaign to aid the underserved farming community and tackle climate change, as the press release further mentioned.
