  • Last-mile delivery robot are expected to have the fastest growth due to a relatively small market in 2023
  • Logistics industry has been divided into three parts- Intralogistics, mobile picking, and last-mile delivery

The year 2015 to 2022 has showcased tremendous growth in mobile robotics market. Mobile robots have been used extensively, due to its easy regulations and the advancement of core technologies such as LiDAR, cameras, and SLAM-based navigation, shared a report by IDTechEx.

Mobile robots have a remarkable advantage in their adaptability to various environments. Their flexibility is crucial, which enable it to handle diverse loads efficiently, make them particularly valuable in the logistics industry.

Till 2023, people has already started adopting indoor automated guided vehicles (AGVs). The major benefits of this vehicle are well-controlled indoor infrastructures as well as the prevalence of indoor inventories. The huge demand for advanced navigation sensors like- LiDAR and cameras, along with simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM) algorithms have made the demand for AGVs popular.

The yearly market size for mobile robots in intralogistics, last-mile delivery, and mobile picking is projected to reach approximately US$150 billion by 2044. This represents opportunities not only for warehouse owners but also for key component and software suppliers in the industry.

The logistics industry has been divided into three parts: intralogistics, mobile picking, and last-mile delivery. According to the report, the growth of last-mile delivery robots can be the highest and the reason is the small market and advancing technology.

Intralogistics mobile robots will maintain their dominant position in market size. Over time, there has been a shift from AGVs to autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) due to navigation technology advancements and increased demand for flexibility.

Market projections can be changed based on various factors, including technological advancements, regulatory changes, economic conditions, and unforeseen events. Nevertheless, the trend toward automation and robotics in logistics and delivery is expected to continue to grow.
