- Having been with Gogoro for almost five years, Burman spearheaded the expansion of the company’s battery swap network in India
Kaushik Burman, Gogoro India’s former General Manager and Managing Director, has left the company. He has relocated to Africa to join SPIRO as its Joint CEO and Board Member.
SPIRO, which is currently establishing manufacturing and assembly facilities, aims to be a firm manufacturing e-bikes and batteries on the African continent.
Having been with Gogoro for almost five years, Burman spearheaded the expansion of the company’s battery swap network in India. Notably, the e-bikes SPIRO plans to produce will also utilize swappable batteries.
In his distinguished career, Burman has also held positions at Shell, CitiBank, Tata Consultancy Services, among other organizations.
Conversely, Gogoro is gearing up to commence the production of electric vehicles and batteries in India this year. During his tenure at Gogoro, Burman had hinted that the company’s initial vehicle production would be limited, as they aren’t targeting the direct-to-consumer (b2c) market.
The primary focus would be on producing swappable batteries in substantial numbers for the Indian audience. Presently, the individual helming Gogoro’s operations in India remains unspecified.
Gogoro team, in reply to Electronics B2B’s question said, “We are actively searching for a leader who aligns with our vision, values, and long-term strategic objectives. We are confident in the leadership of our talented India team and will continue to build on our momentum and grow our business.”
