Hyundai Mobis has achieved a huge business deal from Volkswagen AG for Battery System Assembly. Hyundai Mobis’ battery system assembly will be embedded into Volkswagen’s next-generation electric vehicle platform.
Hyundai Mobis plans to set up a new production base near an automobile plant in Spain to supply the BSAs. The company has its BSA production lines in Korea and the Czech Republic, with new EV also being set up in the United States and Indonesia.
With this latest order, Hyundai Mobis has made a stable foundation to expand its presence in the global EV market across major regions.
Mobis expects additional orders for EV components in the global market. Recently, global automakers have been making massive investments in transitioning to electric vehicles, aiming to secure a leading position ahead of their competitors in the future mobility market.
Mobis began mass production of essential EV components over ten years ago, when it opened Chungju Plant in Korea, a factory dedicated to the production of xEV components, in 2013.
