- Uttar Pradesh offers up to 15% subsidies on factory prices for electric vehicles bought after October 14, 2022
- Subsidies of up to Rs 1 lakh on e-cars and Rs 5,000 on e-bikes, with an exclusive Rs 20 lakh for non-government e-buses
To promote electric vehicles in the state, the UP government has specified the conditions for accessing subsidies on electric vehicle purchases under the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy, 2022.
To be eligible for the government subsidy, individuals who have purchased electric vehicles in the state after October 14, 2022, must apply through the dedicated web portal ‘upevsubsidy.in’. The Purchase Subsidy Promotion Scheme will be active from October 14, 2022, to October 13, 2023, making it essential for eligible applicants to apply within this timeframe.
Under this scheme, the subsidy distribution is set at 15% of the factory price of e-vehicles purchased in the state. For example, the first two lakh 2-wheeler electric vehicles will receive a subsidy of Rs 5,000 per vehicle, while the first 25,000 four-wheeler electric vehicles will enjoy a subsidy of Rs 1 lakh per vehicle. Moreover, the initial 400 non-government e-buses purchased in the state will be entitled to a subsidy of Rs 20 lakh per vehicle.
Notably, e-goods carriers are also covered under this policy, with a subsidy of up to 10% of the factory cost. The first 1000 e-goods carriers purchased will be eligible for a subsidy of Rs 1 lakh per vehicle, offering a significant incentive for businesses looking to electrify their delivery fleets.
Individual buyers can avail of the purchase subsidy for one two-wheeler, four-wheeler, e-bus, or e-goods carrier, while aggregators and fleet operators can receive subsidies for a maximum of 10 two-wheelers or four-wheelers and 5 electric buses or e-goods carriers. With this policy, the Uttar Pradesh government aims to drive a greener and sustainable future while providing financial relief to EV buyers and operators.
