Astrome Technologies, a pioneering deep-tech startup based in Bangalore, is proud to
announce the signing of a significant contract with the Indian Army. The contract, formalized in a ceremony held in New Delhi, marks a significant milestone for Astrome as it expands its reach into the defense sector. The agreement was signed in the presence of Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar, Vice Chief of Army, and Venkatesh Kumaran, President of Astrome Technologies.

The Indian Army requires communication backhaul radios that are bandwidth and throughput efficient, point to point and suitable for extension of network connectivity in the field. The backhaul wireless equipment should provide reliable and failsafe communication augmenting the existing fiber links.

Astrome is uniquely positioned to fulfill this requirement through its state-of-the-art GigaMesh radio solution. GigaMesh is the World’s First Electronically controlled E-band radio with automatic link alignment capability. Leveraging the cutting-edge technology developed by Astrome, the Indian Army aims to establish a robust communication backhaul infrastructure in areas where traditional fiber optic networks are unfeasible, such as rugged and mountainous terrains. The radio is indigenously developed and manufactured in India and is based on their patented millimeter wave technology.

This strategic partnership with the Indian Army demonstrates the trust and confidence placed in Astrome’s innovative E-Band product, GigaMesh.

GigaMesh, operating in the 71-76GHz and 81-86GHz frequency range, with an impressive
channel bandwidth of 250MHz, offers unparalleled performance and reliability. One of its
standout features is the integrated antenna, equipped with advanced beamforming and beam steering capabilities, setting it apart from other products in the industry.

During rigorous testing, GigaMesh has successfully demonstrated a remarkable range of 10.8 kilometers between two devices. Astrome’s relentless commitment to innovation and continuous improvement positions GigaMesh to achieve even greater distances, with plans to reach up to 20 kilometers in the future through feature enhancements.

Astrome’s accomplishments have earned widespread recognition in the defense sector. The company emerged as the winner of the IDEX challenge in 2018, a testament to its
groundbreaking technology and expertise. Additionally, Astrome was shortlisted among the 14 companies selected by the esteemed Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) in 2022, solidifying its position as a trusted partner for the defense ministry.

Astrome Technologies is excited to embark on this transformative collaboration with the Indian Army. This partnership not only highlights the remarkable potential of GigaMesh in enabling seamless and secure communication in challenging environments but also reinforces Astrome’s commitment to delivering groundbreaking solutions that have a lasting impact.
