Optiemus Joins Primebook To Manufacture Made-in-India 4G Laptop

OEL aims to strengthen its capabilities with further expansion into other categories of consumer electronics

A leading Indian electronics manufacturing company, Optiemus recently announced that it has partnered with Primebook, a first-of-its-kind Made-in-India laptop specially designed for students, to augment domestic manufacturing of electronics. Jointly with Primebook, the company will manufacture its latest flagship laptop, thus foraying into the laptop manufacturing market. It is learnt that Optiemus will begin with Primebook 4G, an Android 11-based laptop for students and learners and it will be manufacturing around 1 lakh laptop units for Primebook by end of next FY i.e March 2024.

As per the company, the Primebook 4G laptop was created with the need for low-cost technology for students and learners in mind, and it will primarily serve tier 2 and tier 3 cities. After its success in the B2B category over the last four years, Primebook now aims to expand further in the B2C category.

Mr A. In the last few years, we have strived towards diversifying our expertise in electronics manufacturing, and now with Laptop manufacturing apart from hearables/wearables category and telecom equipment, we are looking to expand our operations significantly. The partnership will also help us to position ourselves as purely an Indian brand and help reduce production costs with indigenous manufacturing.”

Founded by IIT Delhi alums and co-founders Aman Verma and Chitranshu Mahant in 2018, Primebook is an android-based laptop manufacturing company that is powered by an ARM processor. The brand has since worked with NGOs, schools and EdTech companies across geographies to enable a smooth transition to hybrid and e-learning.

Optiemus Electronics Limited (OEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Optiemus Infracom Limited, is engaged in the business of electronics manufacturing in India. It claims to provide end-to-end solutions to global and Indian brands encompassing manufacturing, supply chain management and repair/refurbishment.
