Greaves Electric Mobility Unveils Five New EVs

Greaves Electric Mobility intends to invest ₹1,500 crores in the deployment of an indigenous EV ecosystem. 

Greaves Cotton’s e-mobility business Greaves Electric Mobility Pvt Ltd (GEMPL) unveiled its latest range of electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers on January 11 at the ongoing Auto Expo 2023.

The company unveiled three two-wheelers under the Ampere brand – Ampere Primus, Ampere NXG and a multi-utility scooter Ampere NXU that can be also used for deliveries. In the commercial three-wheeler segment, the company unveiled an electric passenger vehicle Greaves ELP, a cargo EV Greaves ELC and a futuristic cargo concept Greaves Aero Vision.

Greaves Cotton acquired Coimbatore-based Ampere Vehicles in 2019, making it a part of its e-Mobility division.

GEMPL CEO and executive director, Sanjay Behl said Ampere Primus will be available during the ongoing quarter, while the rest of the vehicles will be made available during the course of the next financial year.

The company intends to invest ₹1,500 crores in the deployment of an indigenous electric vehicle ecosystem in the country since its entry into the e-mobility business.

Shares of Greaves Cotton headed higher by over 3% intraday on January 11 after the company’s announcement.

Greaves Cotton Limited is a diversified engineering company and a leading manufacturer of cleantech powertrain solutions(CNG, petrol and diesel engines), generator sets, farm equipment, e-mobility, aftermarket spares and services. GEMPL intends to bring affordable, sustainable, last-mile mobility to India’s rapidly burgeoning EV ecosystem.

Last month GEMPL announced the adoption of Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of software and services to design, and develop its electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler vehicles for the Indian market.
